Marina Albero

Pianist, composer, and educator Marina Albero is a captivating performer born in Barcelona and based in Seattle since 2015. Albero's playing is an absolute celebration of life, her spirited performances are intelligent, uplifting, and delightfully engrossing.

Albero deftly draws on a lifetime of music tradition, from her native Barcelona in classical and early music as well as flamenco, to Cuba and Son Cubano, to American jazz. She has been the recipient of several awards (including this years Golden Ear awards Instrumentalist of the Year and Concert of the year) and was featured as the Resident artist for the 2021 Earshot Jazz Festival.

She has shared stage with Ganesh Rajagopalan, Chano Dominguez, Alba Carmona, Thomas Marriot, DVonne Lewis, Queen Cora Coleman, Divinity Roxx, Carlos Saura, Jeff Johnson, Evan Flory-Barnes, Jacqueline Tabor, Pepe Habichuela, LArpeggiata, and many others.

She has presented her music at KNKX, Marymoor Live, Town Hall Seattle, KBCS, Bohemian Festival in Prague, Ballard Jazz Festival, Benaroya Hall among others.  She is currently the modern piano professor at Cornish College of the Arts.

Seattle Womens Jazz Orchestra is a nonprofit performing arts organization and was formed to nurture the musical, educational and artistic growth of individual musicians, to encourage women and girls to become involved in jazz performance and composition as a career or avocation, and to foster community interest in and appreciation of jazz as an art form.
